Short: Make `SetUp' Global Enviroment Variables Author: John White Uploader: John White Type: dev/util Version: 3.0 Architecture: m68k-amigaos Date: JULY 2001 GEV_SetUp V3.00 is a program that will be of use to anyone wanting to check up on certain Amiga specifications, prefably at boot up time. GEV_SetUp creates Global Enviroment Variables (GEVs) which are put into your ENV: drawer (usually in - RAM:Env). Technical: GEVs, put simply, are just files with text in them. The filename is the Variable and the text is the variable's Value. The created GEVs so far include: * Kickstart Version and Revision numbers. * Active Information (Are IPrefs, WB, RAD and ConClip active?). * Boot-Menu/General Information (What Chip-Mode is the Amiga in? What Chips are installed? What Mode is the TV/Monitor in? etc). * Most, if not all, of the internal Device and Library Version and Revision numbers. * Disk Drives Information (Is DF0: DF1: DF2: DF3: connected? What are their Filenames, How many KB/Bytes are available on a disk, etc). * Memory Information (How much FAST, CHIP or ANY memory is available). * Printer Information (Is a parallel Printer connected? If so, is it ready for use?). Read the GEV_SetUp.Guide for full details.
