Short: Localizes any program Author: jperaaho@mail.student.oulu.fi (Janne Peraaho) Uploader: jperaaho mail student oulu fi (Janne Peraaho) Type: util/misc Version: 1.0 Requires: OS 2.0 Architecture: m68k-amigaos Since the OS version 2.1 Amiga has had an unique feature called localization. Localization is the process by which software dynamically adapts to different locales. A locale is made up of a set of attributes describing a language, a set of cultural and lingual conventions, a physical location, etc. Localization is accomplished through a locale.library which utilizes language drivers, the country database and catalog files. An application using the locale.library can be easily localized on any language with one of the several utilities available for that purpose. But what about programs not using the locale.library - the old ones? Can they be translated? The answer has been so far a strict 'NO', but because of BFLocalizer (Brute Force Localizer), we may now answer 'YES'. BFLocalizer modifies binary program files, or any type of files, directly (comp. catalog files) by replacing the old text strings with new ones - with the translated ones. You cannot have the advanced locale.library services but at least you can use the program with your own language. The BFLocalizer is a freeware [AMITY] product. http://www.amity.amiga.tm http://www.student.oulu.fi/~jperaaho
