Short: Convert mail files to AmigaGuide Author: steigies@physik.uni-kiel.d400.de (Christian Steigies) Uploader: steigies physik uni-kiel d400 de (Christian Steigies) Type: text/hyper Version: 0.13 Requires: ixemul library Architecture: m68k-amigaos Have you ever tried to read your email at home (with your Amiga which has no connection to the Internet)? I know of two solutions for this problem: Using a text viewer or using AmigaELM. The first solution is probably the easiest and fastest, though its not very comfortable to use. The second is very nice, as AmigaELM looks very much like the ELM I use at university. BUT its a quite large program, needs a little bit of work to install on your HD and is a little slow on my good old A2000. Mail2guide is a simple program which converts mail files into a format which is easily readable with AmigaGuide. Usage: Mail2guide While converting the file you will see the subject and adress of the mail currently converted. For displaying the outfile every guideviewer should work (I use the ZShell for this, as there is an AmigaGuideViewer included :-) The main page shows all the mails found with adress and subject in one row. By clicking on the adress the mail body will be shown to you. The subject gives you the mail header (this may sound a bit strange, but this way it looks a little like ELM, if you don't like it this way, tell me or change it in the source). You can browse from one mail to the next or previous mail with the > and < keys. The same thing works for the headers. The beginning of a mail body shows you a button to read the header belonging to this mail, as well as every mail header has a button at the end to read the mail body. Whereever you are, the Contents will bring you back to the main page. Mail files should be converted correctly to a Guide file. I do not check (yet) weather the entries in the header are valid, only for end of header. As there happen to be some problems with the @ and " chars sometimes they are converted to * and ' ("->' only in the node-titles). If you find problems/bugs with this program feel free to drop me a mail. Mail2guide was compiled with GNU C version 2.5.8 (requires ixemul.library). This program is freeware (that means you dont have to send me lots of money but I wont stop you...), the sourcecode is included. There is no warranty for this program, use at your own risk! Future: With a little bit of work the @ and " chars might be displayed correctly. I will perhaps include something to handle uuencoded files, like decoding by pressing a button or so.
