Short: Brakiri-Cruiser (Babylon5) for Lightwave Author: Todd Pederzani (tep3@lehigh.edu) Uploader: Patrick Henz (phenz ibm net) Type: pix/3dobj Architecture: generic Action: all Amigas +-------------------------------+ | Brakiri Ship | | version 1.1 | | (2/16/97) | +-------------------------------+ Todd Pederzani tep3@lehigh.edu http://tep3.res.lehigh.edu This is my second attempt at recreating the Brakiri ship from the excellent sci-fi show Babylon 5. This model took me many hours of work to perfect, but "Metaform" did most of the work for me. :) In creating this object, I used several movies available on the Internet from "Shadow Dancing." I am told that it also made an appearance in "Ship of Tears," although I didn't have any of those scenes to work from. Also of great help was a frame that Foundation Imaging made available on their ftp site. We must all thank them for a job well done! Files that should be in this archive: BRAKIRI.TXT This text file BC-Fin_Map.IFF Imagemap for fin BC-Spec_Map.IFF Specularity & Diffusion map for model The following files will differ depending on the distribution you get: Brakiri_Cruiser.LWO Lightwave object file Brakiri_Cruiser.LWS Lightwave scene file Brakiri_Cruiser.3DS 3D Studio object file Brakiri_Cruiser.DXF Autocad ASCII DXF file What has changed in this version of the model: Although the original model had few details, I have strived to make this one more accurate than the last. First off, the "struts" joining the front and the rear of the model have been resized along half of their length. The merging of those same struts into the bridge has been adjusted to reflect the real model's appearance. The upper and lower wings have been resized, as have the yellow stripes across them. The guns have been resized and redesigned to look like the model in the series. Finally, I have recreated the symbol from the top fin of the Brakiri vessel, and applied it to my own model. This settles most of my problems with the model - if there are more you think I should address, contact me. Feel free to make changes to the object but please do not distribute the modified model. If you think your changes would improve the model as a whole, please e-mail me and tell me what you've done. You may also use this object in your own scenes, but tell me if you make them publicly available. Thank you. I would like to thank Evelio Perez-Albuerne, who pointed out the name of this ship, when I was unaware of it. I would also like to thank Dean Scott for giving advice, allowing me to use his disclaimers, and generally inspiring many Babylon 5 fans to create models of our own. --------------------------------LEGAL-STUFF-------------------------------- These models are being distributed as FREEWARE, meaning I hold the "copyright" to my work, but am allowing you to use it without charge as long as copyright CREDIT to Foundation Imaging, Warner Bros., and the author is noted in productions/animations using this data set.
