Short: By orpheus. First EVER 9-BIT on OctaMED! Much improved new version. Author: orpheus (Samuel L Gilbert) Uploader: orpheus (sgilbert attic apana org au) Type: mods/8voic Replaces: mods/misc/TheBassState.lha Architecture: generic The Bass State -------------- Back to the usual ... After my odd and unexplained attempt at a 4 track module, I'm back with my usual ambient type stuff. But this one is a little different from the others .... It's 9-BIT! And I think thats a first for OctaMED, since its only an 8-bit editor. It was easy to do ... OctaMED usually halves the samples' amplitude so as not to stuff them up when playing in 8-track mode. So, I told it not to halve them (You have a choice). Halving them reduces them to 7-bit on their own, and 8-bit when played together. So not halving them results in 9-bit, and _a lot_ less noise. The song goes for about 6 minutes, and has a few small bugs in it, because editing in 9-bit requires going back and forward from DeliTracker to see what I have just done (a real pain). Anyway, thats about all the action I will get out of OctaMED I'm afraid .. Im pushing it to the limit. * When I first uploaded this song, there was another bit on the end which I hated. I deleted that and reuploaded it. * I have uploaded the song AGAIN. I hope this doesn't stuff up aminet :). More bug fixes, and I am more or less happy with it. Total time it took to write: 22 Hours (PHEW!). -------------- Incedentally, this mod will *ONLY PLAY IN DELITRACKER* because of the odd things I have done to get the highest possible quality. If you don't want to install DeliTracker then you can play it roughly (volumes stuff up a bit) in OctaMED by loading it, selecting "Options/4Channel", then "Options/8Channel", then "YES" when it asks if you want to halve the samples. If you have an '020+ then select the "Options/HQ" mode as well. -------------- Anyway ... The list of greets is getting too long :). You know who you are. More info? This took me 22 hours to write, and the samples were taken from kosmic.wit.com (KFMF Music archive) (except for the beat samples, I did those). That was because I happily deleted my samples during a re-partition without realising for ages what I had done :(. Oh well ... You can now finally contact me by email: sgilbert@attic.apana.org.au To all those that mailed me at my old address, I apologise for not responding; that account was closed before I could reply :(. This address should get a response within a day. Feel free to write to me for any reason. If only to say hello, and that you actually listen to my music. -------------- Hello to Jules, who gets a kick out of reading this useless garbage. -------------- "Hey! Hey!
